The Philippine peso (Filipino: piso) is the official currency of the Philippines. Since the Philippine peso uses the decimal system, it is divided into 100 centavos (Filipino: sentimo). Its ISO 4217 code is "PHP". The Philippines is one of a handful of countries formerly colonized by Spain that use the peso as their currencies, joining countries such as Mexico, Colombia and Argentina (for more information on this, see peso). As of October 2005, the Philippine money supply (M1) totaled about 569.2 billion pesos.
